ABOUT JESS

I’ve been working in the social media/digital marketing and design industry for the last 10 years in many different capacities. I am a self taught designer/digital marketer with a B.S in Business Management. I began to learn design while in school to spice up my marketing projects, and bring my idea’s to life. I’ve worked in-house for companies like iLoveKickboxing, Joanna Vargas, trèStiQue, Ruindays.com, Rujuta Sheth and more; but my true passion has always been working with small businesses and individuals. When working with clients, I always take a holistic approach which is how I transitioned from social media guru to website/brand designer. When I’m not working I am either doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, playing tennis, or hanging out with my pup.

MY INSPIRATION

Growing up, I never saw myself as a creative or an artist – I was always of a business mind. I was a semi-professional snowboarder until the age of 19, then retired and moved back to NY. When I got home I was looking for something to fill the void snowboarding left – and so I turned to art. From there the rest is history. I dove head first into the art world, and one of my greatest inspirations on this journey was my Great Uncle Bassmi – a beautiful abstract painter from Cairo, Egypt. Growing up he always encouraged me to be creative and taught me about art. When I was younger and first started painting I always wanted to make art just like his, which originally lead me to abstract painting. Slowly, I started exploring more mediums, although I have been doing photography from a young age it was just a hobby – it wasn’t long until I got into digital art which opened up a whole new world of possibilities!

I always admired that his art always came from within, which is why whenever I am creating a painting, brand, website, or taking photos I am always inspired by his words and process. You can check out his paintings below!
